My first Elfery™ was created many years ago when our family moved to a new home with a generous space under the stairs. I discovered it was the perfect spot for a small Turkish rug and a little round table. Soon those pieces were joined by a doll bed and dolls, then a shelf for dishes, all mine from childhood.
It wasn't long before a gathersome of elves began visiting, sneaking out of this playhouse and stealing our little breakfast pancakes from dibs and dabs of batter. Our family's acquaintance with the elves deepened with exchanges of little notes and treats.
My son grew out of the Elfery long ago, but I haven't! I've moved a few times since that first Elfery was imagined into being and am now on the fourth one. Each has called for it's own unique look. My Elfery now serves two purposes. To delight all who come to visit (the neighborhood children are its biggest fans), and to showcase my growing collection of children's vintage cooking equipment.
I'd love to inspire you to create your own Elfery, whether it be purchased or handmade. Do it for the sake of fun and creativity for you and your children or grandchldren!
